Men and women have always rated a person’s eyes as one of the most important facial features. Recent research indicates that our eyebrows are even more important than our eyes because they allow us to communicate without speaking. They frame our face and send a signal about our personality. With all of us wearing masks these days, eyes and eyebrows have become even more important.
So, let’s get into some of the latest trends so that you can optimize your peepers!
Eyebrows
Natural Brow Growth
The demand for thicker, fuller brows continues. What’s new about this trend is that more people are seeking natural solutions vs expensive treatments. Wink Organic Lash & Brow Oil to the rescue! Wink is an organic lash & brow enhancing oil, aimed at helping to naturally stimulate hair follicle growth. By leveraging a custom mix of essential fatty acids, this hypoallergenic beauty oil will give lashes & brows a more lush & full appearance. Visible results at 2 weeks; full results at 8-12.
Brow Makeup Trends
The wispy brow look is still in. What is it? It’s a less harsh, more natural swept back brow. Wispy brow tutorials are everywhere on Youtube. It’s a simple process – stroke brows upwards, highlight under brow & blend brow filler, set the brows and fill in and voila!
The Latest Brow Treatment
Eyebrow Lamination is the latest needle-free alternative to Micro-blading. The final result is much like the wispy brow look. The treatment is like a perm for your brows that give your brows an upward, thick, full brow. Lamination began in Russia and is gaining popularity here in the US. Much like the name implies its a way to take the thinning brows and align hairs to move in one direction in a slicked back fashion that makes them look shiny and wet. As with any chemical process lamination can sometimes damages some of the finer hairs in the brow leaving the brows looking frazzled and resulting in breakage. It costs about $120 per treatment and the setting lotion lasts about 6 weeks.
Eye Makeup
While there are some dramatic trends out there we are going to focus on a more natural everyday look. The latest subtle trends include: white eyeliner, voluminous lashes and subtle smokey eyes. White eyeliner applied at the waterline of your lower lids gives your eyes a more open, brighter look. Tip: Along with the white eyeliner, if you apply a darker liner color on the outside helps give your eye more definition, keeping it looking wide-eyed and youthful. Volume lashes are the second key trend. Since we focus on natural solutions we would opt for a growth mascara that covers and doesn’t clump while stimulating new lash growth. Our Grow For It! Natural Mascara is a great option. At only $20, it’s also a value. Lastly, we have the subtle smokey eye makeup look. The term smoky means that the shadow is deeper at one area of the eye and gets lighter and lighter as it gets further and further away. The area of saturation can be at the lash line, on the lid, or in the crease. A smoky eye can be a deeper shade for nighttime. It is the most popular eye look because it can be so versatile. If you ask 50 different makeup artists for a smoky eye they will each do something a little different. There are lots of good youtube tutorials but we really like this elite daily tutorial which will help you to do a subtle smokey day time look.
Under Eye Brightening
There are numerous options for brightening the under eye area which include getting enough rest, cold compresses, elevating your head when you sleep and placing soaked tea bags under your eyes but when it’s all said and done it usually comes down to finding the best concealer. One possible treatment, I haven’t yet tried but others I know like, involves using a potato. The potato contains natural bleaching property that can help to lighten the skin under your eyes as well as minimize puffiness. Take a chilled potatoes and grate them. Extract the juice in a bowl and soak cotton swabs for a minute. Place them on your eyes for 20 minute and was off with room temperature water.
You can also try skin brightening treatments like SHINE Brightening Oil. SHINE can be used as an overall brightener or as a spot treatment for dark areas. It blends well with foundation or can be used alone. As for a brightening concealer, my favorite remains It Bye Bye Under Eye with illumination. I love this product because it covers dark areas and freckles without a heavy, creased look. It’s waterproof and has brighteners in it that reflect light so any fine lines are less noticeable and the eye area literally lights up. Tip: A tiny amount goes a long way, too much will be too shiny and lead to a possible caky look.
In summary, since the mask covers a large potion of your face it’s time to make your eyes the focal point. It’s also important to note that less is more since you don’t have lips and/or other parts of your face to balance out a strong makeup look.
